Album Notes

If you ask Y, The Vegas Nerve was formed in January of 1991 when the
Chicago-born bassist enlisted fellow Azusa Pacific dorm-dweller George
Matamala to play percussion for "Encore," the college talent show. Two weeks
later, Billy Coats, formerly of Seattle's K-2000, was added on lead guitar.
For the first three years, the group played as Electroencephalogram or
E.E.G. and quickly became known for its energetic and unpredictable live
act, which mixed irreverent covers and quirky originals.

Others will argue that The Vegas Nerve began in January of 1994 when George
-by that time lead vocalist and principal songwriter- returned from a
six-month stint in his native Chile with about twenty new songs that would
help create the Nerve sound, a sound best described as equal parts Tom Petty
and Ziggy-era Bowie with a dash of the Sex Pistols. It was also at this
point that the current lineup was solidified with Adam Bosler on drums and
Steve Guiles (Pushstart Wagon, Friction Bailey) on guitar and backing
vocals.

The most recent revision of Nerve history insists that the band was born (or
reborn, if you will) in January of 2003 when -after taking a nine-month
break from live performances to focus on recording- The Vegas Nerve released
Misery Loves Harmony, their much-anticipated full-length debut on Cosmic
Jukebox Records (The Toast, The Focks). Misery Loves Harmony, recorded with
the help of Andrew Prickett (The Lassie Foundation, The Prayer Chain) and
Eric Paulsen (John R. Williamson), has already been hailed as the Nerve's
finest release to date, capturing all the subtle shades and nuances of the
studio performance while maintaining the energy and attitude of the live
show.

Although the verdict is still out on The Vegas Nerve's history, one thing is
for certain- With a string of local club dates and a summer tour planned,
the immediate future will be a very busy and exciting time for this Southern
California quintet.
