Album Notes

"If it's Dirty, Nasty...Greasy, it's the Funk! That's...what it is!" That's what it is. The Funk! Low down, dirty, stankin, groovy music. It gets under your nails, runs down your arm and leaves a mark. The Grease Spot is a genuine moment in time, not a Kodak moment, but a Polaroid indiscretion. One for the shoebox under the bed. Funk with a nod to the masters, Herbie, The JB's, Dr. John, grease from the Z.Z.'s, The Meters and Funkadelic, thanks in part to an appearance by Mr. Bernie Worrell himself and then pushin it forward Vehicle style. It gets heavy, but what doesn't? It's got a surprisingly southern drawl for coming this far cold of the Mason Dixon. The boys have worked with the likes of James Brown, Isaac Hayes, Bernard Purdie and the aforementioned Mr. Worrell and you can feel why. They play it, they live it. They gig around the tri-state area from festivals to the dives. Hailing from just outside a sniff of the Jersey Turnpike, Steve, Pete and Damon have been making em sweat for, give or take, 6 years now. Down from 12+ piece Fridays at the Melody in New Brunswick to a 3 piece and a biscuit, they've changed stride to fit the occasion. This is the second cd from Vehicle but I've been assured it wont be the last, "as long as there's beers, BBQ and something to bang on, Vehicle will be making some noise." funk (fung-k) n a strong unpleasant odor (slang) funk-y (fung-ke) adj 1. with a strong odor 2. down-to-earth and informal, sometimes in ways seen as lacking style or as tasteless (slang) 3. resembling blues music (slang) 4. offbeat, creative, and novel (informal) 5. causing discomfort or unease (informal)

So Greasy. So Dirty. So Heavy. So...So Good. These are some boys who have paid their dues and you can hear it on this CD. These boys found what the Meters lost and then some! Click on a sample – I don’t have to say anymore.
