About the CD:
"The idea for this album came after a dramatic change or rather a shock in my personal life which explains the Love theme of the songs. The music is simple, calm and somewhat oldfashioned (as pure love relationships semed to have become in life.)This record is a photograph of a moment of simplicity, pure sound, and timeless love stories.
Every word and sound was deeply felt through sincere joy and pain. The last tune "A Time for Love" begins and ends with the sounds of the Rainforest while the voice dissapears into "the wild:" a Kingdom of beauty, where everything and everyone goes sooner or later." G.V.
About the Artist:
Gergana Velinova's unique artistic talent has won her audiences from a wide musical range. After graduating from Sofia School of Music with classical guitar in her native Bulgaria, in 1993 she came to the US upon acceptance into the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA where she studied jazz voice.
Interested in pursuing a broad range of musical idioms, in 1998, Gergana became the first Master of Music graduate of Longy School of Music Modern and Contemporary program which combines music from both the African-American and "classical-contemporary" traditions.
Gergana Velinova performances have taken her to New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Paris, Stockholm, Berlin and Sofia.
Her interpretation of spontanious or "free" music at the Varna Jazz festival was acclaimed by critics as "truly innovative, original, full of elegant combinations of vocal techniques and artistic charm."
Ms. Velinova has performed with artists such as Bob Moses, Bert Seager, Stan Strickland, Chris Wood, Mika Pohjola to name a few. Her musical colaboration with guitarist David Newsam dates since 1995.
Currently, Gergana resides in New York City where she performs, teaches and is working on a new album of original and improvised music featuring percussionist Yuske Yamamoto and quitarist Miles Okazaki.

Deliciously Strange and Beautiful
author: TheaMs. Velinova's vocals float hauntingly above the gentle, moving and beautifully played guitar accompaniment of David Newsam. This collection celebrates varied colours of voice and strings, holding the listener in a kind of spell, full of wonder and anticipation. High quality performances by both artists.
