Vered commands her audience like a hot fudge Sunday does a child. Her confidant poise and engaging humor lure her audience in while her rich distinctive voice spins tales of subway rides, tigers and treadmills. With casual candor she makes it easy for the listener to find their own story in her songs, accompanied by melodies that make her listener want to sing along. Vered is often compared to Beth Orton for her warm and expressive voice, to Joni Mitchell for her lyrical story telling, and to Elvis Costello for her quirky and contagious melodies.
Vered recently released her second CD in June 2004, produced by Mike Davis and Vered. The album contains 11 unique and distinctive songs, some with lush productions involving trumpet, violin, and cello, and some with a more intimate feel of just Vered and her guitar. All the songs highlight Vered's velvet voice, laden with emotion and sincerity. Her poetic lyrics often paint images that seem to strike a common chord in her listeners. For example, In Snowflake, a song on her new album, she says, "people are like snowflakes. All of us different, but falling together." This romantic and quirky ballad is contrast to Your Game, a charged song with Beatles-esque humor and Madness energy.
Her song "Tiger," off her first album, is a swelling anthem that reveals a mysterious and empowered version of the singer. The standout track was included in the motion picture soundtrack, You Are Here alongside Rocket From the Crypt. Also, her song "Bike" from her second album, will be featured in the motion picture Satellite.
Vered and her band The Robbery, have been playing the Manhattan circuit for more than 4 years. They play regularly at venues such as Arlene Grocery, Joe's Pub, The Living Room and CBGBs, and have gathered a dedicated fan base. She has also played at the Hotel Café in Los Angeles, as well as at colleges in the north east.
