Album Notes

Recorded during three improvised sessions in October 2006, Verfallen's debut album is a beautiful piece of work. The use of piano and cellos provide an intimate atmospheric to three very emotive compositions which, although very different, appear to have a complimentary effect upon each other.

Throughout this album, the listener is taken on a twisting and turning melodic journey between aching melancholy and stratospheric optimism. The cohesivenes of the pieces are never lost as the pace and form change without warning. Compositional tools are introduced and discarded without warning and yet the music has a strangely familiar feel.

This is the first work by Verfallen (other than the appearance on I...Deviant's "Memento Mori" album in early 2007) and should be included in he collection of anybody interested in modern compositional music.

More neo-classical ambience from the excellent Dekay Media label whom I have much admiration for. Not entirely to my own personal taste but there's absolutely no doubting the beauty and passion of this very soothing CD. The musicianship and writing is second to none and if you are looking for something that little bit different then both Dekay Media artists, Verfallen and I...Deviant, might just be exactly what you're looking for. Like I...Deviant, Verfallen too deliver a very well written piece of Dark Gothic Ambient music on this CD, and if you're into the softer side of the genre, then this very beautifully crafted 3 track, 32 minute CD is definitely for you.
