Album Notes

Vermillion Lies was born in 2004 when Zoe Boekbinder traveled north from the wild jungles of Central America to teach her sister Kim guitar. After putting themselves on stage with an amplified typewriter and many other musical oddities, the sisters were off and running into the brick wall of the musician's life. Vermillion Lies have earned a reputation for a great live performance and beautiful arrangements. They craft their songs with guitars, pianos, typewriters, toy pianos, washboards, pots and pans, broken pipes, old steamer trunks, lobsters, and more... and more.... and more....

'One of my very very favourite new bands to emerge from the Bay Area in quite some time.' -Greg Scharpen, KALX radio, Berkeley

The album features Carla Kihlstedt (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Tin Hat Trio,) Gino Robair (Splatter Trio, Tom Waits,) and Myles Boisen. Boisen, who recorded the album, is known for his work with Tom Waits, The Tigerlillies and The Club Foot Orchestra.

Amazing Sister Cabaret
author: Kevin Reichel
They combine so much different styles, instruments and moods, you have to be caught by their amazingness. The lyrics are creative and tell nice little stories sometimes. If you like independent, soft, quirky, (even) punky, crazy music, buy this CD!
