Album Notes

Weaving a tapestry as alluring and surreal as the mysterious, southern town from which this band hails, Vermillion X has been championed as "Savannah's best bet for a mainstream alternative success story"(Jim Reed, Connect Savannah). Like the ebb and flow of this coastal city's tides, the band's music vacillates between sonic swells and discreet ripples, pervading the listener with a sense of timelessness and mesmerizing intoxication.

Uncomprimising in their artistic vision, Vermillion X is constantly evolving while maintaining the band's definitive sound, which is a combination of Philip Palmer's evocative songwriting and the band's interpretation of those songs. The passionate and wistful vocals of lead singer, Angela Fish, work symbiotically with the soaring, melodic interplay of guitarists, Toby Taylor and Jeff Washburn, and the reserved and pulsing rhythms of bassist, Palmer, and drummer, Adam Bordeaux.

Their self-titled, debut CD was recorded at Rock Central Studios in Athens GA, over a period of just 12 days, concluding in the summer of 2003. The album was engineered by Andy Baker, who has worked with notable acts such as: The Glands, Jucifer, Macha, and Crooked Fingers (brainchild of former Archer of Loaf frontman, Eric Bachmann), and mastered by Phil Hadaway, whose list of credentials includes: The Rolling Stones, Blind Melon, Bob Dylan, Vic Chessnut, and Stone Temple Pilots.

REVIEWS

very powerful album full of sonic beauty
author: John Raskin
This CD is one of the best I've heard in quite a while! It rocks out, but not in a typical way - it lifts you up to the sky only to drop you down and take you through a maze of dark alleys. The singers voice nearly brings me to tears on several tracks. She is the heart and soul of the band's sound, but she is also backed by some beautiful guitar work - very textural and drifty at times, dark and edgy at others. I will be purchasing this CD. I recomend you do the same!
