Album Notes

Originally released in 1999, the debut CD from Vertical Smile is an absolute one of a kind CD that was the musical companion to what became and enormously successful Parrot Head Internet sitcom called "The Jeff and Jerry Show." ( For those of you not familiar, a Parrot Head is a Jimmy Buffett fanatic.)

Posted monthly on the Vertical Smile website for over 52 episodes, "The Jeff and Jerry Show" dealt in extreme reality based comedy surrounding the "fictitious" road exploits about a "fictitious" musician in a very famous "fictitious" Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show. (Yea...we got some ocean front property in Arizona to sell ya if you believe that) At it's peak "The Jeff and Jerry Show" was receiving over 30,000 hits a week and selling BOATLOADS of CD's. But as Jerry Reed put it, "all good things got to come to an end."

Sadly, the muse could only last so long if Jeff and Jerry actually wanted to live to see 40. So after 52 episodes and much regret TJAJS was put to rest. (It has been rumored by many that the real reason was to save what was left of Jeff's reputation so he could find a date) Jeff and Jerry agreed that a formal salute had to be made to their success, so one day they met at Spondivits (their favorite bar) and decided to move forward with plans to record their first CD-Pelvic Associates.

"Pelvic Associates" is a twisted concept CD with parodies of songs by Jimmy Buffett, The Beatles, Billy Joel, The Brady Bunch, Fleetwood Mac and commentary by Jeff, Jerry and some famous celebrities..:-)... Aside from musical performances and antics by Jeff and Jerry, PA also features the harmonica wizardry of one Greg "Fingers" Taylor. Mr. Taylor was the original harmonica player for Jimmy Buffett for over 30 years and is a big Vertical Smile fan!! Pretty cool huh?...Well..we think so..:-)

Past reviews by listeners and fans have proven, that Parrot Head or not, offended or not, man or woman, chances are you will most likely split your sides over "Pelvic Associates." (Even if you don't want to admit it in public)

Vertical Smile are the absolute PERFECT party companions and go down best with a Black Russian or a Screw Driver.

Keep in mind that parts of this CD are not for those who have a hard time being offended and laughing uncontrollably at the same time. It's all in good fun!!! Enjoy!!
Here's to the breezes............

Last Parrothead Tourist is a MUST for All Buffett Fans!!

Rarely do two men go so far so fast to offend so many. Revelling in and inspired by such greats as Sam Kennison, Buddy Hackett, and Rodney Dangerfield, this collection of originals and parodies is sure to offend at least one woman. HOWEVER - if you enjoy light-hearted fun, can laugh at the obvious that the artists are indeed poking fun only at themselves, wrap it all up in a hilarious package of fun and lunacy, then this is a MUST CD for you! Perhaps the greatest song and a MUST for anyone who enjoys Buffett music is "Last Parrothead Tourist" which brilliantly vocalizes what any local Key West local has thought at one time or another. Some songs offered are local zaniness and lean toward inside jokes amongst friends and fans, each group sometimes intermingling. Some songs are direct insults to the artists BY the artists themselves - an ironic 'finger' to masculenity that paints a broad stroke written by many, many females. The bottom line is, if you are easily offended and have no sense of humor, this is not the CD for you. If you can relax your political mindframe and laugh at the obvious, then you will find several gems in this collection of male hormone-endused, laugh packed music to get you through an ordinary day. the perfect addition to those tropical collections.
