Founded by guitarist Anthony Allamandola in summer of ’06, Vertikal strives to represent an artist-based musical expression that manifests a broader, more nuanced musical product. The bands writing process is a collaborative one, in which an individual’s composition grows into the band’s collective sound through lyrical, chordal, and groove contributions.
VertiKal consistently stirs the Chicago music scene, captivating audiences throughout Chicago (SEE Resumé), and drawing a diverse following that grows by the show. Live performances combine personal expression with interpersonal interaction that makes for exhilarating experiences, captivating audiences with varied musical textures. VertiKal currently plays monthly at the Underground Wonderbar and has performed for capacity crowds at the Double Door, the Metro, Schubas and Lincoln Hall. In 2007, VertiKal was voted audience favorite at the Emergenza national final, with Lorin Cohen earning “best bass player” nods! In 2011, their dynamic MC, Illegit was nominated for “Best New Entertainer” by the Chicago Music Awards!
