They have captivated audiences from platforms such as "the Call", a nationwide movement of young people responding to a "higher call" hosted at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena; "Peace through Music", a celebrated annual event presented by the Pasadena City Commissioner's Office, and the nationally renowned University of California, Berkeley Gospel Choir's annual "Gospel Extravaganza". Under the musical direction of Jon DeCuir, VESSELS AND THE BAND, an urban contemporary band markets a self-described flavor of Fusion Worship to Christian Music.
On October 25, 2003 Freedom was ringing in the atmosphere as the Vessels of Honor exploded onto the stage of the Pasadena Civic Center in their 5th Annual Benefit Concert "Freedom to Worship" presented by the Community Awareness and Performing Arts division of "CITY ON A HILL", a non-profit organization based in Pasadena, California donating a percentage of their concert proceeds to the sponsorship of other various non-profit organizations. From the special guest Josh Chavez and Jeff Zabel who ignited the crowd with selections of Christian rock and Latin music, to the Vessels attire which offered a salute to each member's personal style and creativity, the revolutionary tone of spoken word that filled the air, the blending of the textures, colors, and tones, of every voice, to the effortless flow of mostly original, and a handful of cover songs which represented an eclectic mix of music genres, it was destined to be a night where cultural barriers, expectations were liberated, and boundaries were torn down.
While anticipating a Fall 2005 release of their music works, VESSELS AND THE BAND can be heard on the Songs for Purpose Driven Life CD, on the track titled "Reach One More for Jesus"; Out of the Ashes tribute with Billy Graham to the victims, heroes and survivors of the September 11th Attack; Carolyn Hill - Hopkins' Living Water on the track titled "Mighty God"; and the Solomon's Eyez Productions, Inc. demo CD, on the track titled "Do You Really Want to Know?"
In January 2005, VESSELS AND THE BAND appeared as the praise team for the renowned Bishop T.D. Jakes' "God's Leading Ladies" conference hosted in Los Angeles, CA at West Angeles Cathedral, where they also ministered with Dexterity Sounds/EMI Gospel Recording Artist Micah Stampley. That weekend was incredible as the band ministered behind Evangelist Paula White, Co-Pastor of Without Walls International Church of Tampa, FL. In March 2005, VESSELS AND THE BAND traveled to the Bay Area to not only serve as the house band, but also perform as featured guests at the Spirit of Praise Gospel Concert, hosted by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Chapter at Zellerbach Hall on the UC Berkley campus. Some of the VESSELS sang background for headliner, Tommy Boy Gospel recording Artist, Kim Burrell.
VESSELS AND THE BAND is the embodiment of charisma and enthusiasm for what they sing about, as well as the creative instrument, both musical and vocal, from which the harmonies of love are sounded. Their music is inspirational; their style is distinctive; their message is life changing. Without doubt, VESSELS AND THE BAND makes a presentation with impact, leaving and unmistakable impression and leaving you wanting more.
