This husband and wife duo from the greater Cincinnati area formed Vexing Souls as the final result of many years of musical experimentation by Steve Burris. Incorporating heavy guitar, bass, keyboards and drum machines the music takes on an alternative rock, metal sound with gothic influences. Each song tells its own story through the use of powerful rhythms, solid structure and memorable lyrics. Steve Burris has been playing guitar for many years, performing as a member in several different local bands. Unsatisfied with merely playing other artists' music, Steve constructed a home-studio in order to focus on creating his own unique style of original music. The clean, melodic vocals and thought-provoking lyrics written and performed by Judy Burris add a distinctive female flavor. Vexing Souls' sound utilizes musical elements similar to such bands as Lacuna Coil, Evanescence and Within Temptation.
