notes
VOICES HONORING THE FATHER (VHF) is an eight-member acappella group that uses its unique blend of harmony to share the love of Christ in Central Louisiana and throughout the state. The group has performed at various events including a multicultural city wide gathering, a candlelight vigil for battered women and at several churches and youth conferences. They also traveled to Harding University to sing at a fundraising concert for Hurricane Katrina victims.
Drew Battistelli, Scott Gammel, Debbie Guy, Phillip Lee, Mark Lioret, Stacy Lioret, Karla Ryder, and Rhonda Ryder minister through the Storefront Church in Pineville, Louisiana, a group of Christians from different walks of life taking their faith from the building into the community. They keep their mission simple by giving unselfishly of their time and finances to established community agencies throughout the area. On any given Wednesday night you may find them mowing the lawn at a shelter for women, cleaning a food bank warehouse, boxing food, visiting handicapped children or nursing home patients, washing down houses, volunteering for the Red Cross, or teaching at Storefront Church.
On their agenda for the summer of 2007 is a mission trip to South Africa, where they will join with other Christians to help unite different faiths and restore communities, becoming the hands, ears, feet, voices and heart of Christ in an area of the world that desperately wants to hear His message. They are currently raising funds to finance this mission trip.
The love of Jesus, and His command to show others that love through words and actions, is the focus of VHF. That focus shines through from the moment they warm up to “Jesus loves me” until they sing their last song and is defined by Ephesians 3:17 “. . .being rooted and established in love. . .” From this overflow of love, they lift their Voices to Honor the Father.
