Featuring Kevin Seconds (7 Seconds), a staple in the punk community for over twenty years.

notes

KEVIN SECONDS (Songs - "Lotion Stuck" and "Nearly Perfect"/ produced The Knockoffs songs)
Kevin Seconds has been a staple in the punk community for over twenty years with his band 7 SECONDS. In addition to 7 SECONDS, Kevin has formed such bands as DROP ACID (DEFTONES drummer Abe Cunningham was the drummer during the 46th & Teeth E.P. era), 5'10" (with DROP ACID'S original drummer Brent Spain and wife, Allyson Seconds), GO NATIONAL and his solo stuff as KEVIN SECONDS. Currently he is busy as ever running TRUE LOVE COFFEEHOUSE, which he owns with his wife, Allyson, along with, writing and performing music for 7 SECONDS, GO NATIONAL, UMPTEENTH and solo.

THE KNOCKOFFS (Songs - "Burner Barrel" and "Never Fall in Love")
In June of 1993, Tom Hutchinson, (CAPTAIN 9'S & THE KNICKERBOCKER TRIO) joined forces with Tim White and Tom Amberson to form THE KNOCKOFFS. Drawing from their old school punk rock influences, the result was fast paced, jangly yet not overdone pop-punk sound with a good slice of lyrical humor thrown in for kicks.

After nearly 2 years of gigging on the Nor. Cal. Club circut and numerous releases on compilations, the band released two 7" singles, (THE UNRELEASED TRACKS & WAKE UP AND SMELL THE KNOCKOFFS) which enjoyed extensive air-time on Northern California college radio stations and distributed over 1,000 copies combined world-wide. Even with this small, yet sweet success, the band members went their seperate ways to pursue other projects. (Tom H.- THE X-TEENS, Tom A.- MONSTER ZERO, & Tim- THE TIKIMEN)
1996 saw the re-fromation of THE KNOCKOFFS, and once again, the band kept busy playing the San Francisco/ Sacramento club scene. This year also saw the first line-up change with Tom A. being replaced on drums by ex- GROOVIE GHOULIES drummer Wendy Powell. This group continued in this configuration for nearly a year, until once again the band members went on to other interests.

In late 1997, Tom A. came back to fill the vacant drummer position, and at this time, THE KNOCKOFFS fattened their sound by adding Dan Reynoso (FALSE COLOR IMAGE, THE SECRETIONS) on 2nd guitar and replacing Tim with Bobby Jordan (PORCHUPINES, THE DECIBELS, GO NATIONAL) on bass. This new line-up is the best the band has ever seen, due to the chemistry that exists between the members and the energy that is created from this mix. One only needs to see a live performance of THE KNOCKOFFS to see that this statement is true.

1998 proved to be a great year for the band. THE KNOCKOFFS had played some great shows that year, which included warming-up for national touring acts STIFF LITTLE FINGERS & THE MR. T EXPERIENCE and playing with local favorites, the GROOVIE GHOULIES & THE BRODYS. 1998 also saw the release of the band's first full length CD titles "12 SUCKER PUNCHES" which is available on the Heartpunch Records label.

Some noteworthy items for 1999 include the band being nominated for the 1999 SAMMIES AWARDS in BEST HARDCORE/PUNK ROCK category, as well as the BEST LOCAL CD division. Bass player Bobby Jordan took home the BASS PLAYER OF THE YEAR award. The band was also featured on 98 ROCK'S LOCAL LICKS, as well as on the U.C. Davis, KDVS radio program.

BOBBY JORDAN (Song - "This is my heart you're playing with")
Bobby Jordan wrote the intro piece, Charlie and Ann piece and Psychologist's office intro piece along with the song "This is my heart you're playing with" for the film. He also appears as the vocalist on THE KNOCKOFFS "Never Fall in Love" and as the bassist on all THE KNOCKOFFS songs. Currently he is bassist for THE MR. T EXPERIENCE, bassist and vocalists for THE KNOCKOFFS, guitarists and singer for RED STAR MEMORIAL along with other projects.

STRANGEGIRL (Song - "i can see")
Years together: 2 Origin of band/artist: It started a couple of years ago in San Francisco when Kim traded in the drums for a guitar and mic. Then Jerry joined, then Rob, then Matt. It is pop base with hard rock and a little folk thrown in there. Very melodic, great vocals and mean guitar. Philosophy: To make music that satisfies. Sometimes tell a story, sometimes pass along an idea. There are things that burn inside you. If left alone or long enough they will start to spill out of ya. You can't stop it and you shouldn't try. For those that withhold their dreams don't know the power of being truly satisfied. Music is the language spoken by all, it crosses most boundaries and should be expressed whenever possible. Future plans and goals: We are just finishing our debut CD. We would like the world to hear what we have to offer. Our goal is to reach as many people as possible. And always enjoy the music.

IVAN KLIPSTEIN (Song - "le bebe")
Often inadequately described as "eclectic", Ivan Klipstein's songs exist in a world all their own where the music is all that matters, and if you want to call it something, that's up to you. The brand new "Lifestyle!" is his third album, and clocks in at approximately 16 songs and about 70 minutes. Sweetly serenaded lullabies, tongue-twisting raps, wall-of-sound rock, human beatbox and accapella sound effects, deft turntablism, exquisite string arrangements... all presented with Ivan´s truly unique voice, delivery, and undeniable melodic sensibility. Often he will channel bits of older songs through his own. Obvious examples of this are "Wonderful", which contains elements of "Two for Tea"; "Underground Underground" references "Pomp and Circumstance"; and of course there's Ivan's take on "Amazing Grace". While practicing this non-technological form of sampling, Ivan's songs continue to breathe their own life, and remain extremely unique. He is able to do anything and get away with it because he makes everything he does his own; putting the song itself first, and doing it in his own one-of-a-kind style... Lifestyle! The final product makes for an intruiging and enriching listening experience. The kids dig it, and the old folks do too.

Ivan lives in Madison, Wisconsin. He has been performing and releasing his own music for the past eight years. He tours nationally (US and Canada), performing in all kinds of places- universities, coffee houses, all-ages clubs and basement shows. Rock n' roll is in his soul.

Live Show:
While his albums tend to be quite dense and orchestrated, the live show is stripped down, and Ivan usually performs solo with an electric guitar. Keeping it raw, representing the songs. These performances have been described as everything from "unpredictable" and "intense" to "dreamy", with "a voice that can switch from beutiful crooning to insane rapping in a matter of seconds." (Creature Magazine, IA.) Because of the ever-evolving nature of his songs and music, it is difficult to accurately summarize a live Ivan show, but recent performances have included beat-boxing & vocal record scratches (invisible turntablism), alongside as well as inside quieter material, some get-down on the country-cut, and all out rockin', sometimes with a freestyle rap section based on audience subject matter suggestions. But he might just stand there and play a bunch of songs, which is the main point anyway. Encores often involve the show-goers following Ivan outside or into a bathroom for a few literally unplugged numbers, thus destroying the audience-performer barrier.

Ivan has shared bills with Elliott Smith, Andy Stochansky, Swearing at Motorists, the White Stripes, Johnny Polansky, Kevin Seconds (of 7 Seconds), Ministry's Chris Connelly, Atom and his Package, Har Mar Superstar, Shivaree, Willie Wisely, The Butchies, MC Sub-Zero Permafrost, MC Tracheotomy, Mark Mulcahy (of Miracle Legion), Eugene Chadbourne, Glen Hansard (of the Frames), John Hermanson, Tony Jarvis, Brenda Weiler, Denison Witmer, Bucky Pope (of the Tar Babies), the Low Down, the Mary Janes, French Kicks, Bird Dog, and many many more...

Ivan has released three albums on compact disc:
this year's brand-new Lifestyle! is a joint release from his own label Quasi Lathrop Internatinal and Milwaukee's Crustacean Records. Scorpio Enviro (1998) and Ivan Klipstein (1995), were both released independantly on Quasi Lathrop.
