Shane Ocell had played drums in several good, but only marginally successful, bands over the course of ten years. It always seemed like these bands had at least one member that was not committed or wanted to go in a different direction with the band. His experiences with these bands not living up to expectations compounded with many personal issues caused Shane to put any musical aspirations on hold.
In April of 2006, Shane was messing around with his guitar and decided to sit down at his drumset. As he played his guitar he thought he would try playing the drums at the same time for fun. His attempt at playing drums and guitar at the same time went surprisingly well. His discovery that he was capable of pulling off double duty got his gears turning. As a drummer he is an admirer of the talents of one man bands. Shane realized that playing as a one manband would give him the freedom to play the type of music he wanted to play without anyone holding him back.
Because Shane had many troubling events happen in his life during the previous year he had a lot of thoughts and emotions to work with for lyrics. In May of 2006, Shane headed into Alien Autopsy Recording Studio to record the demo for his new project. The initial recording session went well and there are currently two completed songs available on a demo disc. Shane will be headed back into the studio to complete the rest of the songs in November of 2006.
The one man heavy rock band Via Vengeance has been playing live shows unassisted by loops or effects to jaw dropped audiences since the start of July 2006. In a short period of time Via Vengeance has created a great local buzz. Some of the highlights include: Opening for Made Out of Babies, playing S.H.O.D. fest, and playing EdgeFest 2006.
Via Vengeance’s influences include; Melvins, Clutch, Helmet, 400 Blows, Kyuss/Q.O.T.S.A., ISIS, Neurosis, and many others.

One Man Band!
author: Skinny Strikes Back
Via Vengeance is the best one man band ever. The CD is great and the artwork from Josh Graham is awesome. I wish I could get the fold out as a poster.
