Album Notes

"Songs From Down The Hall" is the first CD from this artist - a re-issue (with bonus tracks!) of an LP originally released in 1974.

Since it's initial release in Central Massachusetts, "Songs From Down The Hall" has become a cult classic sought by collectors all over the world.

This CD is filled with melodic, original, introspective folk/pop songs that aren't afraid to rock.

This is music from the 60's school, when The Beatles and Dylan shared the same radio playlists with B.B. King, James Brown, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, Louis Armstrong, Aretha Franklin, Patsy Cline, and Deep Purple.

The influences are apparent, but so is the originality of the songwriting, blending personal emotional experiences with a wider political awareness.

From the introspection of "Rude Awakening" to the pathos of "Lost Or Going Home" to the literary references and metaphoric imagery of "Michael Henchard" or "Big Brother", "Songs From Down The Hall" is a gem with many facets.

There are more Vicalvi CDs to come - he is currently working on a release of recordings from 1976, as well as a CD of brand new material.
