Universal Speakers is a rare Hip-Hop/ R&B/Reggae group. With the ethnicity background of Cambodian, Thai, and Lao, many fans are amazed as to how these talented ladies can come up with so many styles. Fairly well-known in their hometown of Long Beach, CA, these Asian persuasion ladies are constantly on their toes promoting their music, their clothing line called Raga Muffin Clothing, and taking any opportunity given to them to perform and indulge their audience in their sounds.
For the past ten years, they have been performing for annual events such as: The Cambodian New Year Festival in Long Beach, CA, the Lotus Festival in Los Angeles, CA, and various college campus organizations, car show events, and night clubs. Recently, Universal Speakers performed in Hawaii on the Big Island and 95.9 “Da Beat” in Hawaii is currently playing two of their reggae hit songs called “Love It” and “Stay” featuring their good friend, Daddy Scotty of Chapter 11. In addition, the group was also featured on Reggae Rhythm TV in Oahu. Their approach to performing songs makes each song their own and everyone who has the pleasure of hearing it enjoys the positive vibes, the welcoming aura, and the meaningful lyrics taught from personal experiences or from friends and family.
In 2004, the album titled “No Hard Feelings” was released. With only 1000 compact discs, the album was sold out in less than a year at local Cambodian stores in their hometown. A second album was also released in 2005 titled, “Joint Project”, which was composed by Vice and Versa of the group. The album consists of hot new tracks with special guest appearances from various artists and producers. Currently, these young striving artists are challenging themselves working on their new album self titled, “Universal Love”. This third album focuses more on the reggae tip, but will still be mixed with a flavor of catchy Hip-Hop and R/B tunes.
With only dreams to be known and respected for their music, these three women, “Vice, Versa and Versatile” are bound for stardom. And with the encouragement and support of their fans, there is no limit to how far U.S will go.
