Vicki Blankenship hit the music biz with both feet running with her debut CD "Don't Forget To Breathe" released in September 2003 that ironically features one of her most popular songs entitled "Running". She immediately was reviewed as a Female James Taylor with a likeness to Stevie Nicks featuring her soulful style, poetic lyrics, and the way she touches her audience with her story telling and life experiences. Her sophomore CD release "Horizons" is going strong out of the gate by already receiving radio play coast to coast featuring 7 different songs off of the CD. Her music is heavily influenced by Stevie Nicks, Carol King and Emmy Lou Harris. She is Co-owner and Operations Director for Spotted Kiva Productions a company that specializes in short run CD duplicating and web design/hosting services which helps out a lot of Indie Artists. She maintains the ever popular Indiegrrl website and is also the Founder and Event Chairperson for Indie Music For Life a non-profit organization that raises money for cancer research through compilation CDs of Indie Singer-Songwriters and through fund raising concert events.

I heard the song One in Eight on a promotion for a cancer cause and I had to check this artist out some more. She is an Indie artist with conviction and warmth and much talent. I am a new fan now and can't wait for more music from this artist.

This chick Rocks

Some of these songs remind me of Stevie Nicks. The guitar overlays in Lay Down Next To Me are fabulous and I Couldn't Be Your World holds nothing back in just pure driven Rock. But she has a sweetness in her voice that sounds like a sixteen year old in On The Cape Fear River. Great mix of songs.

Her voice is as good live as she is on this recording. She pulls lyrics from the heart and delivers them with strength and sensitivity. The song "Horizons" is such a sensitive subject to many in various ways and Vicki brings those subjects to our surface and reaches the positive at the end. BIG THUMBS UP GIRL. "I Couldn't Be Your World" blew me out of the water. Never saw that one coming from what I feel is a great folk singer. It turned my head toward the CD player. WOW.
