a studio classic ... this one rules !!!
author: the 7th bogman
peeps, i had the privilege of hangin' out with vic thrill's previous band, arista records' the bogmen on many occasions and jammed with the guys often on my illustrious blues-harp ... i know, because i was present at these transitional recording sessions and i know because i listen to it a bunch, that this cd should be bought by anyone who digs cool music, not only because i'm providing backup vocals on one of the tracks (a tip of my cap); but it should be bought by everyone because it's a fine piece of work by a skilled, dedicated nyc/world-class artist with a great band that translates onto stage and into studio media as easily as a pot-roast into a hungry gut. eat it up!!! it's an excellent record ... and no, i would not bullshit you (i'm not one of those). signed, 7

Metamorphosis

This record may not grab you immediately like the funky, electro-insanity of CE-5, but if you're a Vic Thrill fan, you've gotta have it. It's the bridge between the Bogmen and VT, and you can almost hear Billy transforming into Vic right before your ears. Some of it is a bit stripped down and bare, for example this version of "When He Breaks In" doesn't have the same surging rock beat of the full-band version, but it has a certain charm, conjuring up an image of Vic possibly sitting out on his front stoop playing for the kids in his Williamsburg neighborhood. There are some experimental tracks that will be an acquired taste for many, but there are several songs that are positively amazing and easily accessible to anyone. "A Lot Harder" is one of my favorite VT songs, and makes up in heart for what it lacks in length. "Divorce" nearly made me break down sobbing the first time I heard it, thanks to Vic's powerful delivery. "Money is Important" and "She Glowed a Radiant Glow" are instant pick-me-ups; both upbeat songs with a touch of whimsy. Blown From the Action has something for everyone.

this is worth having

Another lucid collection from aurally spectacular Vic Thrill. The disc offers a more intimate look at the workings of the artist leading into his work on CE-5. Tracks contained reflect a healthy free flow of ideas, revealing a mixture of unique creativity and just enough disconcern. Its like listening to your incredibly talented, possibly alien, neighbor tinkering with friends through thin apartment walls; a fly on the ceiling witness to a spasm of casual recording lust. While lacking the glamour of the more polished CE-5, there is always deep value in hearing the naked tone of Billy Campion's other-worldly voice. You'll want to share it with your closest of friends.
