notes

DAVID VICTOR is a veteran Los Angeles-area musician with extensive recording, producing and performance experience.
David's most successful project to date was his band VELOCITY's debut CD "IMPACT" which he produced from January to October, 1997. The album was released in 1998 Europe through MTM MUSIC and in Japan on AVEX/BAREKNUCKLE and in the U.S. through ROCKHARD MUSIC MEDIA.

"IMPACT" received universally-phenomenal reviews and sold over 12,000 copies worldwide, including over 2000 copies in Utah alone where "IMPACT" received significant airplay in 1998. The album spawned three #1 singles on local rock radio: "YOU DON'T AMAZE ME ANYMORE", "JANINE" and "LOVE IS DANGEROUS". Word about VELOCITY began to spread, and rock radio stations in Ohio, Indiana, New Hampshire, Mississippi (among many other states) started playing the lead single "YOU DON'T AMAZE ME ANYMORE" as well.

Rock radio began to change in 1999 with large-scale corporate consolidation, and unfortunately the inroads the band had made in the states were for naught as station's playlists were neutered.

VELOCITY was also a powerful live act, and took to the road with a vengeance in 1998 and 1999, playing anywhere and everywhere they could including Mississippi, Utah, Arizona, Washington, Nevada and California.

David Victor's work with VELOCITY were preceded by stints with ST. LAURENT, VICTOR, DICK BRIGHT'S SRO, SECRETS and ALLEY OPERA with vocalist LANA LANE. David also did studio work with LANA LANE on her album "SECRETS OF ASTROLOGY" released in April of 2000.

VELOCITY as a live act is no more, though David Victor continues to perform in several live rock acts (see the davidvictor.com website for full info!)

(NOTE: A 5-song EP entitled "ACTIVATOR" was released in 2001 which is no longer available due to the ineptitude of the distributor!)

This CD just totally has me!! It will be in my CD player for a long time to come. Def Leppard is my favorite group so I was happy to find another melodic rock group with kickin' guitar riffs. This is a must buy CD!

I heard good things about Velocity and I was not disappointed. Excellent songwriting and flawless performances. The lead singer is terrific. "Supernatural Lover" ranks as a classic track. You gotta love "One Minute To Midnight".

  • In a nutshell, every track is solid to exceptional!

Reviewer: Brad (CT) - See all my reviews I came across this band quite by accident while browsing the Internet in late 1997. The sound bytes on the band's web page sounded enticing, and I just had to hear more. Well, from the first time I threw this disk in my CD player, I was AMAZED. Where oh where has music like this gone? Certainly not onto the radio. In a nutshell, every track is solid to exceptional. "You Don't Amaze Me Anymore" is a fantastic rocking start to the album, and "Riot Goin On" keeps up the pace. The next track, "Supernatural Lover", is an amazing anthem, one of the best I had heard in a long time. "Janine" and "More Than Tonight" are gorgeous ballads, and "Love Is Dangerous is another anthemic highlight. Somewhere between Night Ranger and the early '90's also-obsure Hardline, with a touch of Mr. Big and other similar influences, this album is a fantastic addition to any lover of '80's hard rock music collection. You may not know these songs from the radio, but trust me--you won't be able to get the songs out of your head as much as any Def Leppard hit you heard in 1988. A true throwback to a time when rock music didn't take itself so seriously. Strongly recommended.
