Album Notes

"Out of all the times where I've been contacted by bands about featuring their stuff here, there have probably been 2 times where I liked the material enough to post about it. But this Victoria George clearly has something going for her. She walks the line between alt country, folk pop and a touch a rock." Peter Funk, barsandguitars.blogspot.com

Victoria George was born and raised in Fairfax Ca one of the very few places where the vestiges of the 60's and 70's are still alive and well today. It is only fitting that from this free spirited environment she would turn to artistic expression, performing in plays, talent shows and musicals, as early as grade school. Despite this early passion for performing music, it was only in her first year at the University of Virginia among the pressures of finding direction that she began to think of music as a career choice. " It was almost like I got bit by something," says George. "My head became inundated with melodies and lyrics and I began to write them down and take them seriously."
From that point on Victoria has consistently illustrated to her family, friends and audiences how serious she is about her music. Accompanied by her acoustic guitar, Victoria has showcased a captivating repertoire of original music. Combining a naturally beautiful voice with an equally beautiful and clever songwriting ability she has convinced all those who see her that she is the real thing. Inspired by the likes of Sheryl Crow, Joni Mitchell and Lucinda Williams Victoria's mix of Americana rock with nuances of folk and pop makes her music satisfying to anyone who enjoys good music. With her first EP "Far as I'm Concerned" produced by Joey Muller(Daren Hayes, Walter Afanasieff, Keith Varon) just released Victoria is beginning to make a powerful impression on listeners- proving she has the potential to go all the way to the top!

The Buzz in Northern California
author: Joe Lourdeaux
There is a buzz in Northern California that is slowly and steadily getting louder. This buzz is not just another girl with a guitar, this is Victoria George. If you haven’t heard her yet, well it is about time. Just click on that “Play All” button and you will understand why her CDs are a mainstay on my playlists. Victoria is blessed with an uncanny voice. She can sing a melody that will wrap itself around you like a warm blanket and then belt a note that will silence a bar audience. Thankfully though, she is more than just a voice. Her lyrics are saturated with honest human emotion and are refreshingly absent of the cliché. If you live anywhere is the greater Bay Area, go see her live. These songs are even better in person. This CD is only her EP, she has a full length album available from her website. I suggest you check that out. I think it is even better than this one. Favorite tracks from the EP, Love Sick, Don’t Worry Bout Breakin My Heart. Runner up: Long Gone

Excellent! Proof that rock and country keep getting better together
author: Tony Garcia
Two thing are consistent throughout these songs: a great voice and strong songwriting. The tunes take some clever and unexpected turns, reminiscent of vintage Lucinda and Kim Richey. The production on these songs is great too, the overall sound of the instruments is well balanced with some great guitar work and solid rhythm, but what really stands out is Victoria's voice. The songs sound honest and heartfelt. I highly recommend this CD!
