Bluesy-jazzy arrangements of original songs that (musically) are inspired by the classics from the 30's, 40's and 50's. The lyrics are right up to date though and the sidemen are world class.

Album Notes

Victor Anthony* plays old-school folk music Southern style. The set list is never the same, but you can expect bluesy originals, obscure trad numbers from his native Tennessee, and rootsy pages from the American songbook. The one thing you can take to the bank is that every song will be delivered with soul – nothing fancy, just the facts and a bagful of juicy chords. A fulltime musician since 1985, he’s played in 48 of the 50 states, across the pond, and now he’s taking on British Columbia from his new home in the Gulf Islands, where he lives with his wife, Joëlle. His three CDs have received rave reviews, international attention, and lots of North American airplay. There’s a new recording in the works too, so stay tuned!

*Victor Anthony’s previous CDs (Personal Mercury, Hush Money and Skinnybones) were released under the name Victor Mecyssne.

Victor is the best, most talented musicians and song writers I have ever had the privilege to know. I just wish he hadn't moved away from Nashville. Victor is a true "word artist", and for his guitar playing...every word in his songs had their own chord. I had rather watch one of his live shows than anyone I know! I miss you Skinnybones, Phil & Betty Ann
