Album Notes

"V.I.H. IV... The Mission Continues" is the first CD featuring the new lineup of band members and is also the first acoustic CD from the band. Members of The Victory In Heaven Band are: Larry Adam (keyboards, acoustic guitar, vocals), Larry Baudoin (percussion and vocals), Kate Koch(bass and vocals) and Sterling Koch (acoustic guitar, lap steel guitar and lead vocals). The acoustic CD was inspired by the many smaller coffeehouse gigs the band has added to it's schedule. Fans had asked for a CD of acoustic music and the band was only too happy to oblige. From the opening rocking cover of Canned Heat's "Let's Work Together" through the traditional Gospel/blues tunes like "Goin' Over The Hill" and "Let It Shine" the band covers a wide variety of acoustic blues music. Traditional tunes by Muddy Waters, Misssissippi Fred McDowell and Reverend Gary Davis sit comforatbly alongside V.I.H. originals like "Kiss The Blues Goodbye" and "Take Me Home." The CD has an old school blues feel from the front cover (designed by Lisa DeLay) to the lo-fi production (from guitarist Sterling Koch) which give the CD a feel of contemporary blues like Eric Clapton's "Me and Mr. Johnson", keeping one foot in the traditional blues era and the other in the contemporary digital era.
