Miasma is another chapter of dub/ambient from the mind of the Viking(Robbin J Harris). Live instrumentation, live vibes. Spans from modern sounds to vintage Skatalite dubs featuring Mark Henderson and Miles Li on horns. Also on a few tracks here is the superb vocalist Marcia Seebaran (who incidentally also provided the cover photos). Ken Rose guests on one track playing guitar as does Joel Deerwester for one track on trumpet.Compared in many reviews to Twilight Circus and Bill Laswell these tracks are mostly on the mellow side of things.Big bottom and bass make it warm and cushy, especially on a dub sound system.

To fly away (literally)

"Miasma" is like a trip into ambient spheres, chill out, relaxing in the evening after a hard day at work. It's a live played album and reminds from time to time to some Bill Lasweel experiments in the outer rim territory of dub.
People who like jazz music will be very satisfied with this album. Dub-jazz may be a good description of this music. I would associate a chilly garden party with colourful cocktails and people relaxing in a swimming pool. And above this scenery, the calling trumpets from a distant, possibly a grass-hill behind the fence, a lonely guitar player in the corner of a garden, improvising to the beats provided by a poshy DJ who tries to impress the bikini girls (who laugh at him but secretly feel flattered nethertheless).
Like this the party continues until late night without any remarkable incidents. The people leave in their Jaguars and Porsches and next day they forgot that they were on a party at all.

Good singing, killer horn parts and unbelievable percussion. Tracks 10 and 11 are my all time favorites. Bad ass grooves!
I suggest that you buy this one, it grows on me more each time I listen to it.

Une production Dub assez inhabituelle puisqu'elle plonge l'auditeur dans une atmosphère fortement chargée d'influences Jazz notamment au son et jeu de batterie dès le premier morceau "Eternal", et la tendance se confirme avec la batterie et la trompette de "Sun Dub".
Pour "Gaze", une choriste est invitée, Marcia Seebaran, pour poser sa voix sur une instru toujours Jazz-Ambient. Un virage s'amorce à partir de "Lazy Monday" mais pas vers du Dub « traditionnel », on arrive pratiquement à un morceau Acid Jazz.
Et tout le reste de l'album suit la même direction: plutôt Jazz que vraiment Dub, mais très agréable quand même, bonne ambiance musicale
