This Is the Dream Life

by Vinny C.

It is an odyssey of sorts into what one sees and feels and wishes and daydreams about as a result of their being alone or feeling so, with a New York sensibility and a magical mystery tour melodic feel.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
It is strange how this album came together. My original aim was to record songs as I hadn't done so for many years. I worked with Craig Levy in his home studio and would bring in several possibilities. He'd say, 'let's do that one'. And so it went. Over the course of 16 months we recorded 12 songs. We did so as the funds became available, i.e. I worked. At some point I told him: I want to make an album. I'd never done so before. It occurred to me as we continued recording, that the songs chosen mostly all related to a theme, though I never intended it so. Apparently, in choosing them, I was choosing those closest to me that elicited a strong emotion.

For the album design, instead of going with the company who produced the physical product, I decided to work with a music friend, Scott Wolfson, who had mentioned, during our weekly meeting with the songwriter's group know as The Song Exchange, that he was a graphic designer. I did this because I needed the back and forth the company could not give me. I told him I want a surreal theme and in blue. At some point, he said, it's time for decisions, so i told him this: take the front cover, wrap it around the back and put these two pictures of me inside the cover, giving them a bit of the surreal as well. That's what he did. But kudos to him for that wonderful design.
