Album Notes

''Acquire the Taste, was officially released this spring in Paradiso (Amsterdam) by this young
international quintet (with members from Poland, Holland and Hungary). It is their fourth
album since the founding in fall 2005, from which date they’ve been creating and finetuning
their own sound from a variety of ingredients. With a large portion of Eastern-European folk
but strong ties in Western pop and rock music also, their musical journey results in a fantastic,
exciting unity.
The cd sounds accesible, in spite of the use of uncommon time signatures, a rough sound at
times, experimental vocals and soundscapes. That’s because these guys are musical and know
how to evoke beauty with the subtle use of cello and guitar.
But they also take you with them towards feelings that are less pleasant: anger, fear and hate.

An important factor in this accesibility is singer Paulina Dubaj. Her voice, audible on most
of the tracks, is both expressive, light and nimble. Even Nina Hagen comes to mind when
hearing her sing ‘Sticks and Bones’. A whole variety in songs, but also variation within
songs: you will be tricked, but you won’t ever need to be bored when you have this cd at
hand.'' (April 2011, World Music Mixed Magazine)

'' ‘We eat only music, drink only water in which poets swim and we develop music close to
our deepest desires.’ Thus the members of the Vinsky Project introduce themselves.
Guitarist Zoli Soos plays drums in Zorita, another dutch group that likes combining
Balkan and Progressive Rock –like the Vinsky Project. As a result a truly original mix
comes to life that, due to many unexpected twists, will never get boring. Adventure is
Vinsky Project’s trademark. Progressive rock smoothly flows into chambermusic, jazz
into catchy pop songs.
Contrary to most technical jazz and modern classical music, Acquire the Taste is still
accessible for a large audience. The Balkan was clearly a source of inspiration. These
guys are touring the Balkans frequently and like strolling around for unheard ingredients
to enrich their music there.'' (FRET Magazine)
