Album Notes

Describing Violet Nine as a five-piece rock band out of Boston simply misses what is truly groundbreaking about this group's place in the new rock scene. V9 represents a fundamentally unique mix of melodic rock with pop elements that delivers a truly original and innovative sound. The combination of powerful lyrics, complex melodies and engaging harmonies coupled with energetic stage presence and personal sincerity is creating a buzz within Boston and on the greater New England music scene. Described as a U2-Radiohead-Foo Fighters hybrid, their music is lighting a fire in fans wherever they play.

Ben Consoli, Tom Gallo, John Ducharme, Nick Lewis and Greg Faucher each bring different musical influences and experiences to this group. Drawing on the experience from past successful musical endeavors throughout New England, the group harnesses the energy of their influences, ranging from funk-rock to experimental, to offer up compelling performances and consistently strong songwriting. The union of their diverse musical tastes in V9 was an explosive combination that, from their first performance, signaled that V9 would be a prominent figure in the newly emerging rock scene, redefining melodic rock for years to come.

Press:
"Violet Nine is my new favorite band. They are redefining rock music with every song they write and show they perform." (J. Rowe - Sony Records)
"There's more pop sensibility and music potential in these songs than in most bands' full length albums. Violet Nine is indeed a band to watch." (J. Simches - The Noise)

REVIEWS

This CD is without a doubt one of the best collections of music I have ever heard from a new group. You have got to get this CD or music from Itunes or where ever you can find this CD. I was in the store the other day and they told me that it sells out as fast as they can get it in. Violet Nine is very talented. Just get the CD and see what I mean. You'll be happy you did.

The demo can only be called refreshing
author: Score! Music Magazine
The demo can only be called refreshing, with its clear vocals and simple guitar solos sailing over the dreamy melodies into outer space, following the generally up-beat platforms made of fast-paced bass and drums with layers of keyboard effects and rhythm guitar. The overall effect is melodic, wistful pop rock with a fairly unique sound. Comparisons line up, too easy to ruminate. Violet Nine is reminiscent of U2 in the repetitive guitar lines and exalting vocals; some amelodious solos sound influenced by later Sonic Youth; harmonies strike chords similar to the Foo Fighters. I could go on, and yet lead vocalist Ben Consoli’s yearning style shows both proficiency and an honest earnestness. Combined with the hybrid of other members’ energetic talent, Violet Nine contributes a lovely and honestly original sound to the otherwise overly-promoted music industry. Here is a band not following the current rock trends of hard guitar and growly, unintelligible vocals. Who wants to sound like Creed? Haven’t we enough of that?
