THE VIRAGOS - a vibrant musical duo based in Vancouver, B.C., give music to the world that aligns with Peace, Love & Unity: music that resonates with the Sacred Universal Vibrations, from the heart with the intention of Waking the Global Heart. Their mainstream sound is full of infectious melodies and lush harmonies, appealing to all ages and their performances are tender, honest , fun and engaging, leaving the viewer inspired and uplifted.

THE VIRAGOS are the merging of Debra Howell (vocalist/songwriter/guitarist) and Lisa Rae Simons (bassist/vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/arranger). Both Viragos have an extensive musical background.

Lisa Rae Simons was born in Edmonton, Alberta and has a predominantly jazz and rock background. Part of a very musical family, her first instrument was guitar (actually the rubber band and pots and pans) but she has been playing the bass since she was 12, professionally since she was 14.

Debra Howell was born and raised in Coquitlam, BC and also started her musical career at a young age. At 10 she was involved in musical theatre, and by 13 she started fronting her own rock bands, singing and playing guitar at school dances and events. Debra's special gift is writing songs, her muse is with her all the time, encouraging her to write her life experience and new thought beliefs in songs.

Taking their extensive experience and focusing on their original music has found THE VIRAGOS hot on the heels of their debut album, volume 1 and currently recording their new project.. Driven by the belief in Peace and the powerful force that music has to Unite and Wake The Global Heart, THE VIRAGOS songs emerge from the exploration of our human interconnectedness; from the importance of our inherent connection with the Earth and Nature, to the powerful metamorphic transformations of our lives. Their stories are conveyed with an honest clarity that's uniquely accessible and seldom found in pop music of today.

Debra and Lisa have brought together some fine musicians to help create and share the sounds of THE VIRAGOS; Steve Kulusic on lead guitar and Rusty James on drums, allowing them to perform in two equally strong formats - a full band and a duo.

THE VIRAGOS performances are packed with their dynamic originals, as well as a great mix of familiar favorites. Always a good time to be had! Coming soon to a stage near you!
