Album Notes

THE VIRGINIA CITY REVIVAL is a Spectacle beyond Description!

This is music for the new depression! These odd desert boys are on a mission to firebomb not only the modern rock wasteland....but also your enslaved soul.

Led by the charismatic Rev. Josey DeVille,THE VIRIGINIA CITY REVIVAL commands stages with its genre-bending and mind-warping presentation. Their Elvis-Hank III-Adam Ant-esque songs are catchy and intimidating.

Immaculately dressed and sounding like a country-fried Elvis meets Nick Cave, Rev. Josey DeVille simultaneously invokes a speeded-out Leon Russell tempered with the spiritual demeanor of a Jim Jones or Charles Manson.

Each of the band's five other members was “rescued” from various checkered pasts (read the Book of the Dawn on their website for more on this).

Guitarist, Sister Gaby Godhead drools her fiery riffs a la Ace Frehley and Angus Young, and was a woman trapped in a man’s body before finding this spiritually, gender-nonspecific, liberation.

Brother P-Three, who spews a bass mixture of James Jamerson and Cliff Burton, was an escapee from a shadow government mind-control commune.

Guitarist Brother R. Mutt, who feverishly delivers combustive, sick licks, makes you forget his extreme homicidal tendencies and institutional past.

And the two (!) drummers, Brother Mista John and Brother JxPx, rain a polyrhythmic stew of funky, punk rock marching band beats...do you really care that they were two drug-addicted/dealing Louisiana natives before joining the Revival.

Check out their new release, “A BANDIN’ THE HERD,” and you will see a Classic American Band in the most dysfunctional and original of ways. You can even hear their track "Drink for Free" in the recently released Jackass Video Game.

And if you're really hard up, listen to the theme music the band co-penned for the new Steve O show, "Dr. Steve O" on the USA Network.

This is Voodoo-belt Vegas, the resulting big sound a raped nation makes to sooth its own soul. Join the Virginia City Revival, make the Virginia City Revival your own.
