Album Notes

It's all in the name, or so they thought. Though it should be self-explanatory, the question most often asked of Virginia Coalition remains the thought-provoking, "Are you all actually from Virginia?" The four friends from Alexandria, VA, who comprise Virginia Coalition, have worked tirelessly since 1998 to develop a sound that is all their own, a live show that is unforgettable, and a fan base of wildly enthusiastic supporters.

It all began in the spring of 1998 when VACO, as they are known affectionately by their fans, released their first album, "The Colors of the Sound." The local buzz secured them the regular Tuesday night slot at Alexandria, Virginia's Bad Habits, where they began to develop their incredible stage presence and live show that makes a lasting impression on any first-time listener.

In 2000, the band released their second album, "Townburg," another all-original album recorded by Ted Comerford and mixed by Mitch Easter. The album helped create the grassroots support that quickly propelled them from local to regional success across the East Coast and into the Midwest. They began selling-out shows regularly at the 9:30 club in DC and packing venues such as the House of Blues in Chicago, the Paradise in Boston, and Irving Plaza in NYC.

This year has brought the band to a new level, as they are exploding onto the national scene. The release of their third album, "Rock & Roll Party" (January 21, 2003, DCN/Koch) has helped the band expand their already solid tour base to the West.

"Rock & Roll Party" hit the Billboard Charts at #18 on Billboard's Top Internet Selling Albums (Feb 8, 2003), and was the #1 seller at the Aware Store for over two months. In August, they received the Reader's Choice Award for Best DC Band from the Washington Post. Virginia Coalition's diverse sound, with its unique blend of rock, funk, and go-go, and their amazing live act, suggest that they will continue to create large numbers of fans.

This whole CD is amazing, you can listen to and enjoy every song on the album. Its rare for a group to tackle so many different kinds of music effectively. Of course, anyone who knows VACO knows that the CD doesnt come close to comparing to the energy and fun you experience at a live show. This CD is a must have for every CD collection. You won't be disappointed.
