notes

The Premier 2006 NAMMY nominated Native American Contemporary Gospel Rock Group from Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

BIO: Visionary is an eight-member band of primarily Cherokee, Creek, Ponca and Kaw Nations. They are Native American musicians dedicated to expressing the good news of Jesus Christ through their music. Not just a band but also a family of whom the majority have been raised in the music ministry in area native churches. they are drawn to reservations and tribes across the U.S. and Canada. Such as New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Dakota and Michigan hosted by varies Native American churches. As adults, they have no other desire than to actively pursue the calling God has placed before them, to be examples before all men. Their ministry combines music and word to both the young and old. The Blues and 70’s Rock style feature messages in their music that have changed their lives. “Christ in us the hope of glory” and “All things work for the good of them who love the Lord”, just to name a couple. They believe they are strong people because of the strength they have received from Christ.

Visionary consists of William Douglas Bryant (rhythm/lead guitarist), Vice-President of United Tribes for Christ Fellowship and works at Sequoyah High School for the Cherokee Nation, Tonya Bryant (vocalist), Director of UKB Child Development Center, Kristin Bryant (hand percussions), a varsity cheerleader for Sequoyah High School is the daughter to Doug and Tonya Bryant, Denise Rooster (vocalist), attends college and works for the Oklahoma DHS, Dobson Rooster (bass guitarist) gives his time to coaching little league sports teams and works for W.W. Hastings Indian Hospital, Amy Carey (vocalist) and Paul Carey (drums) live and work in Tulsa. Jorden Rooster (drums, not pictured), son of Dobson and Denise Rooster, has been playing drums since he was 2 ½ years old and now at age 7 seems to attain a flock of fans where ever the band plays.

In the last 12 years, through the diligence and support of family, friends, and spiritual mentors Visionary has been established on the sound word of God. They are actively involved in The United Tribes for Christ Fellowship and Kingdom RockFest, as well as facilitated a number of events inclusive of the Cherokee National Holiday Annual Gospel Singing for several years, Youth Rallies, Concerts, Blues Fest, Motorcycle Rallies, Benefit Katrina Concert and other Street Ministries, concerts on the town square, revivals, youth camp outs and singings to name a few. Visionary’s commitment to the native people and youth has spurred them to play in parades, boy scout troop meetings, high schools fifth quarters, both men and women’s penitentiaries, many churches, even on the floor of a rodeo surrounded by cows, in the street, under tents and out under the open sky.

They each have experienced God in unique ways resulting in healing, freedom, and deliverance. They know no other way to share God’s wondrous ways than through their belief and message of hope.

Visionary’s message is clear “…Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians
