notes
Every so often an artist comes along whose music is so alive, pure, and refreshing, that the artists is instantly recognized as a natural.
This term easily applies to singer-songwriter Marina Vittoria, whose debut album, is "For the People."
The title track's birth gives insight into Marina's creativity and spiritual nature. In her own words Marina states, "I woke up one morning with a song completely written. I just basically played the melody on the guitar and wrote down all the words as they flowed out of me. It was as if I wrote it while I slept. The song is about nature and all living things, and how we as native people of the land fit in. I want so much for people to feel eachother and recognize that before we are our own individual heritages. We are the people of the land...the earth."
While Marina may cite British bands as her main influence, "For the People" reveals a variety of influences from English traditional and Celtic music to straight-head pop.
Producer/drummer, Daoud Shaw (whose credits include working with Van Morrison. Etta James, Jerry Garcia, and the Saturday Night Live band) has surrounded her with some of the most stellar veterans of the Philadelphia music scene: guitarist Chuck Anderson, bassist Steve Beskrone, Bob Tangrea on mandolin and fiddle, and Joshua Yudkin on keyboards.
Though Marina's lyrics often have a poetic intensity that brings to mind various other women singer-songwriters, again the naturalness of her creative instincts comes through.
"Marina has a sweetness to her voice and a serenity to her witing. She is an accomplished writer/performer who has a bright future." - Songwriter's monthly Magazine
"Marina Vittoria is a talented singer-songwriter who deserves full attention! Her songs reach out and touch the heart." - Barbara Ginsburgh, promoter and founder of Musical Lairs house Concert Series

Uplifting Songs
author: Fred CostonI am so fond of this album. But what pleases me most is to see my teenage daughter enjoying it. Marina has inspired her to let her own voice be heard. There is much need for positive, expressive role models for girls in this twisted 'pop' world. Thank you Marina!
music you can listen to again again
author: E.J. DodsonEvery song on For the People is well-written and enjoyable to listen to. I bought this CD used recently. Anyone who enjoys folk/rock music will find Marina Vittoria's CD a nice find.

This is great. 'High' is a stellar song. 'Within you or Without you' is probably my second fave. I really like the Celtic influences that flow through the whole album. Fabulous.
