Album Notes

Virgil C. Jones Jr. aka VJ The Messenger, is a dedicated husband and father who accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at an early age. He is the middle son of Bishop Virgil C. Jones Sr. and First Lady Mary Jones. He is the father of Jaylen and Virgil Jones III and the husband of LaStocia Drayton-Jones. In 1996, Virgil graduated from First Coast High School in Jacksonville, FL where he co-founded a prayer group and witnessing team. Virgil released a gospel rap single in 1998 entitled, "I Make My Boast In The Lord" produced by Richard Christie, Jr. Virgil was called into ministry in 2002, where he has been blessed to be able to minister through rap, as well as behind the pulpit. Virgil has ministered and performed in such places as the UNF Gospelfest, eX-Men Ministries, the B.E.T. show, "Cynthia and Friends" aired in Atlanta, a Florida prison and detention center as well as numerous other events. In 2003, Virgil put on a live concert to kick off the release of his new album, "VJ The Messenger, Live at The RITZ." In addition, Virgil has also performed in places like St. Augustine, Orlando, Atlanta, North Carolina and was a finalist at the 2004 McDonalds Gospelfest.


Virgil is currently the Co-Sunday Schoolteacher of the young adults aged 18-25 at Philippian Community Church. Along with his music ministry, Virgil has touched a number of young people with his "keep it real" and on fire mentality for God. This young man displays a motivation and sincere love for God that many young people can and do look up to.
