Album Notes

"A jam night turned magical in a rocking jazz bar in the highest capital of the world. That is the story of Proyecto El Talisman.

When Canadian Veronica McNamee walked into Thelonious Jazz Bar in La Paz, Bolivia, she never expected to meet some of the best jazz musicians in South America. A master composer (Jorge Villanueva), a genius drummer (Zegadex), a piano virtuso (Freddy Mendizabal), and a bass to die for (Edwin Mendoza)!

Representing a Canada/Bolivia musical collaboration, they made a lifelong impression in the South American jazz scene. Blending world rhythms to jazz and bossa nova and taking a tremendous risk recording in three languages, this ensamble is made in heaven!"

Proyecto El Talisman

How much I love this CD!!! Eclectic, risky, exciting, unusual, brilliant! Sometimes I find Canadian jazz to be too much of the same...with maybe just a little twist...and here come Veronica McNamee with her crazy, powerful, sweet voice combined with the artistry of great musicians to remind us that jazz is "not the result of choosing a tune, but an ideal that is created first in the mind, inspired by ones passion and willed next in playing music. Jazz music is not found in websites or books or even written down in sheet music. It is in the act of creating the form itself!" BRILLIANT!
