Album Notes

The title of this album, "All Over the Map," refers to styles of each song crossing over genres. By design the tunes drift from one feel into another as it moves along, leaving the listener with no solid expectation of what is next. The title also refers to the arrangements of instruments changing from song to song. The music is diverse with an overall "Rock" sound, however semi-accoustic. These days in our musical mainstream environment, so much weight is put into classifying music into categories. This "Rock" album does all it can to break through the fabricated barriers of genre, and style classification. If you are open-minded when it comes to art and music, you will find that this album will intrigue you. If blending two genres together is called a "crossroad," then this album is a "rotary" or "turnabout" with many outs.

The music is entirely played by one musician. Jake recorded and over-dubbed all of the instruments and voices you hear. Bass, Guitars, Drums, Pianos, Hammond Organ, Synths, and Percussion were all used in various combinations. His voice is often dubbed for 3-part harmony. There are eight songs, in which the lyrics and vocals are the focus. Four other tunes are 100% instrumental, showcasing Jake's playing. This separtates the jamming and singing, making each selection one or the other, a jam or a song. The album was recorded in 2008 at REO Studios in Cape Cod, Massachusetts by engineer Ron Ormsby. Jake Vohs produced the album with his wife Janette. The Album's release date: September 22, 2009
