Album Notes

You would never know Volker was born in Heidelburg, Germany by listening to his recordings or performances. When he moved to States in his early 20's he set about studying the blues music he loved, and developing his own T Bone Walker based style. The more he listened the more he learned.

It was when he was asked to join the Ford Blues Band that Volker really began to blossom. Suddenly he was working in a band of highly accomplished musicians who valued originality over all else. A band who encouraged him to "go for the moon."

It was with this band that he began working with guitarists like Robben Ford and Chris Cain. Suddenly a whole new ball game opened up for him to play in and he went in to it with no hesitation.

Now, with this his second release on Blue Rock'It, Volker makes a powerful statement. The songs are almost all originals and with vocals as strong as his guitar work Volker now makes it clear that he takes second seat to no one.

What a wonderful, soulful piece of reality! Rich vocals. Outstanding instrumentals - earthy technique and compilation. This is truly an album that becomes a part of its audience from the very first note, and never lets go - even after the last one is played. Remarkable and a must-have staple in my music collection. This one will never collect dust!!

Truly Outstanding!

I'm not usually one to "gush", but I knew I was in for a treat from the first few bars of 'The Dance Goes On' when I felt my eyes close and my body respond to the flow of the music. But it doesn't stop after the first track. Almost every song wraps you up and carries you along; some slow and soulful, others full of energy and jive (nice variety). Although it's really hard to choose, my personal fav has to be 'On A Day Like Today'; wonderful tones. Every track demonstrates Volker's stunning guitar work showing an impressive depth and breadth of skill. The trumpet(?) on 'Spoonful'... wonderful emotion! Mellow sounds of 'Listen to the Rain' with some beautiful picking. Oh, and 'Constantine'... brings a tear to the eye (really). I have never claimed to have an educated ear. I just know what I like when I hear it; and this is definitely it!
