Album Notes

Celtar

When rock guitarist Aaron Minsky took home his cello from high school one fateful day, and placed it over his knee and started strumming: the "Celtar" was born! (Celtar combines the cel of cello with the tar of guitar.) Aaron knew that he had found his calling, but his fans and friends thought he flipped out. They laughed when he said he was going to create a new style of music. But look who's laughing now! Cello Rock is being embraced around the world in no small part due to the vision and the efforts of Von Cello. Hear him play new originals and covers of Black Sabbath and the Grateful Dead on acoustic cello, with guitar pick and bow.

The Von Cello Band is a loose confederation of musicians with a shared vision. On this CD we have: Von Cello - acoustic cello, vocals (Yamaha Artist, published by Oxford University Press, in Who's Who in America and the International Who's Who) Scott Guberman - Hammond B3 organ, piano, bass, vocals (Vince Welnick Band, performs with other Grateful Dead and Allman Brothers Band members). John DiGuillio - drums, vocals (Little Anthony and the Imperials, Doobie Brothers, Kenny Loggins, the Turtles). Other musical guests: Mark Paradis, Johnny Chang, Lisa Leonardi.
