VONTANNER (aka Chris Tanner & Michael Vaughn) have been writing and singing openly gay material since Chris' first recorded songs on Folkways Records in 1978. Never compromising himself or his music, Chris continues to perform, openly gay & proud and still managing to hold onto his sense of humor. VONTANNER's new cd, 'So Gay' is testimony to this. It is full of humor that will make anybody laugh, yet laced with some of the heart aching realities of being a gay man approaching his 60's in America. This is the music, the career, the laughs and tears of a gay, singer/songwriter, pioneer, survivor.
"I am currently working on a musical play about a young man deciding if he should or should not come out. The majority of the music is from this cd and a few from past cds and a couple new ones. I'll keep ya'll in touch."
(About the name VONTANNER: Chris' birth name is Chris Tanner and his husband, Michael's is Michael Vaughn, so, says Chris with a giggle and a sneer, "Since some of you will not let us marry each other we took it upon ourselves to do just that...combining our names we became, Chris & Michael VonTanner. We don't need no stinkin' piece of paper!")
