Album Notes

Voodoo BBQ is a trio of highly talented musicians playing a blend of New Orleans funk, Zydeco and jazz-rock. "Finger lickin’ good…Tastes like chick’n!"

Leah Hinchcliff- Bass, Vox
Leah has been called "the Femme Fatale of Funk" by the Olympian Newspaper. Pat Ferris of HOTBANDS says, "She is definitely the funkiest bass player I've seen in the entire country in the past two years!" Widely recognized as one of the NW's premier bassits, Leah is a first call studio musician and a fiery performer. Having played with many of the NW's A-list groups, she is proud to call Voodoo BBQ her new home to lay down her signature spicy groove.

Jeff Davis- Drums, Vox
Since relocating from Denver with former band Etherglow in 2004, Jeff has played with many different artists in the Portland area. He has recorded with some of NW's top singer-songwriters and is an in-demand studio drummer. Prior to his work in the Portland area jeff performed with several rock and funk combos in Denver and with Honolulu favorites, El Toupe and Second Nature. Jeff brings rhythmic command and arrangement innovation to VBBQ's music.

Mark Bosnian- Keys, Accordian, Vox
Mark is an award-winning songwriter (Grand Prize - Portland Music Assoc. Songwriter's Contest) and was voted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2001. As a member of national acts Nu Shooz and Body & Soul, he toured the U.S. and played on The Pat Sajak Show. His song "Don't Stop Now" was recorded by Vanilla Fudge on their reunion album. Mark's CD "Shed My Skin" was featured as one of the best independent albums by Perfoming Songwriter Magazine. Locally, Mark has performed live on KINK, Z100, KEX, KGW TV, AM Northwest, and Good Day Oregon, and has sung the National Anthem numerous times at Portland Trailblazer games. "Bosnian has impressive songwriting skills. His tunes are distinguished by their memorable hooks and intelligent lyrics." --The Oregonian "A very talented composer and performer. I'm impressed with his versatility and his ability to work with all types of music." --Les Sarnoff, KINK FM

I'm a little prejudiced, 'cause I'm an old friend of Mark Bosnian, but I still don't spend $$$ on stuff I don't like. This CD is fine. There's not a "I wish this cut was over, so I could hear the next one," track on the whole thing. I especially liked the title track, and although I've never met Leah H., I'm now in love(don't tell my wife, who is also a singer, but doesn't play the bass). Buy this music!
