In 1992, Erik Shock formed the infamous Gokatz USA in the Washington DC area. While only the mid-Atlantic region, the Gokatz USA released a 7-inch record and then the full length "It Ain't easy Bein' Greasy" album. "It Ain't Easy" took off and Erik formed the label BSC Records.
The Gokatz records were distributed heavily in Europe by Rockhouse, CD Express, Nervous and Bear Family. It was though this distribution that the Gokatz USA quickly elevated to internationally known artists. In the summer of 1994, the Gokatz quickly disbanded as fast as they had formed, but the stage was set.
After disbanding, Erik and BSC Records immediately formed a relationship with Sanity Check Musec founder BLUE. This was to be a primary stepping stone in the upward directon. With BLUE agreeing to produce, engineer and play, They formed Erik & The Dragtones and released an album entitled "Live From Lockjaw, WV" for BSC Records. "Lockjaw" spawned a song entitled "Killer Came From Space" about the legendary Sun Records artist Billy Lee Riley. Shortly after "Lockjaw" was released, Erik and BLUE found themselves in Memphis recording a tribute record not only for Billy Lee Riley, but with him as well, again for BSC Records. The initial project turned into a compilation cd tribute featuring 20 bands.
The Tribute cd was such a success that a second compilation was put together by Erik, this one called "All American Hardcore Hillbillies." This cd was accepted with rave reviews and solidified the fact that BSC Records was finally an independent rarity. The label was going to last.
In 1998 Erik Shock formed a new band Casa Diablo, compiling some new tracks and some unreleased tracks with BLUE. Again, another solid project for BSC Records.
In 1999 the idea for an alternative, 70's punk crossed with 90's punk band started to boil. In the summer of 2001, Erik Shock formed a live version of Voodoo Love. They recorded LUCKY and off they took in the first days of 2002. Outlandish punk rock, comedy and sold out shows are quickly making Voodoo Love the mid-Atlantic favorites.
