Album Notes

Paul VornHagen plays the tenor sax like Dexter Gordon, sings like Chet Baker and plays a latin-jazz flute like a Cuban. His tones are lush and romantic yet robust and lively too when they need to be. Born and raised in the midwest area of Cincinnati, Ohio, Paul resides and performs regularly in the Ann Arbor-Detroit, Michigan area as well as San Francisco and Chicago. Paul has also performed in Paris and Marseilles, France, Maui, Hawaii, Havana, Cuba and West Hollywood, CA. He has won three Detroit Music Awards for Best Jazz Reed, TDWR and Best Instrumentalist. His 2004 Release "Kindred Spirits" is his third album for the PKO Records Label and sixth jazz recording since 1991. In 1997, Paul's CD Parisian Protocol reached #30 on the Gavin Reports national charts. If you like a variety of jazz styles including bossa nova, samba, mambo, swing bop, romantic ballads and an occasional funky groove tune, you will like Paul's sound.
