Biography
"Hayes is one of few composers today who can flawlessly blend musical styles from opera to head-banging rock. It is very clear that he has a great talent for matching music to images.” -The Los Angeles Times
Award-winning composer Kevin Saunders Hayes’ command and range of musical styles is as extensive and diverse as the many places he’s lived around the world. Hayes is a study in contrasts, a classically trained musician, and a product of London’s rock scene, Hayes is as comfortable in front of a Marshall stack as he is conducting a symphony orchestra.
A veteran of more than 40 feature films, Hayes has written, performed and produced the scores and title songs for the Academy Award® Nominated Mighty Times - The Legacy of Rosa Parks, and the Academy Award® Semi-Finalist for Best Documentary Rock The Boat. Current releases include; Mr. Fix-It starring David Boreanaz and Paul Sorveno, Reeseville starring Mark Hamill and Sally Struthers, Lady In The Box, Soulkeeper, Interruptions, Blue Shark Hash, Cold Hearts, Blood Type, and Infidelity.
Hayes has also applied this talent to hundreds of hours of music for television. He has been featured on CBS Sports, ABC Wide World of Sports, Saturday Night Live, Dinosaurs, The Aquanauts, Real Stories of the Highway Patrol, Sci Fi Buzz, Adventures in Travel, The Cartoon Network, Maury Povich, Jerry Springer, All My Children, The Comedy Channel, ESPN Sports, A&E Biography, as well as music for animated series Voltron-Defender of the Universe, Believe In Santa and Dinosaur Island starring Mark Hamill,
Hayes has composed thousands of national commercials and jingles for every conceivable product and brand. A very small list includes; Advil, AT&T, Atlantic Bell, Bacardi Rum, Legends of Batman, Blockbuster Video, Canada Dry, Caress, Coca Cola, Double Dare, Flex, Fruit of the Loom, General Mills, Hanes, Hasbro, KFC, Kool-Aid, Mattel, M&M/Mars, Mercedes-Benz, Motorola, Nestle Foods, Norelco, Old Spice, Playdoh, Polaroid, Puffs, Toshiba, Volvo, V-8 and Wrigley’s Gum.
In addition to his film and television work, Hayes has written 15 stage musicals. "Shreek!", a spoof on teen ‘Scream’ films, was recently invited to participate in the National Alliance of Musical Theatre’s annual conference for new works. “Toxic Aveneger-The Musical”, based on the cult Troma Film hero The Toxic Avenger, had its world premiere at The Blue Barn Theatre in Omaha Nebraska. Critics and teh critics agreed that Toxie was “hilarious, smart and over-the-top” and had the audience “laughing uproariously at the lyrics and antics of the unlikely hero and his friends” (Omaha World-Herald). The Omaha Reader added that "Hayes has churned out some of the funniest music and lyrics ever sung on stage.”
Hayes is currently developing "Full Moon", a contemporary retelling of the classic werewolf legend, "The Game", “Time Step”, “Dish” and "Boxing Helena" a musical stage version of the popular cult film.
Hayes is also the creator of VOX LUMIERE - Silents you can hearâ„¢.
