Mary was born in Phoenix, Arizona. She is unique among the new crop of female Christian singers in that she incorporates strong jazz arrangements and jazz influences within the music. There is a purity in her voice that is beautiful and inspiring.
In 1997, after her husband died, her personal journey began. The grief of losing a best friend was unbearable at times, however, through continuous support of therapy and grief support groups, and the faithfulness and comfort of God, she is moving through the grief, and feels called to share her music and message of healing to others.
Mary's CD consists of 5 traditional hymns and 3 original songs she wrote throughout her grief journey. The song I Will Rise was written 3 months after her husband's death, and expresses the will to continue on through the daily struggles and rise above the pain. Jesus is the Light of the World is an expression of hope after the tragic events of September 11th, 2001. She states that "Jesus is the one to turn to when there is darkness and appears to be no hope."
The song Yes, I Believe was written a few weeks before going into the studio for the recording. The melody and words of the chorus were written down a few months earlier, but no verses were composed. She jotted down the chorus during the frustrations with her daughter's disbelief in God and questionable faith. She decided to add the song to the CD since she needed another original number to complete the list. It became the title of her CD, and fits with her message of hope to all... Yes, I Believe.
She hopes you enjoy listening to the CD, and wishes to thank you for your support if you decide to purchase a copy.
