Vijay Shankar Choubei was born in Mogulseraj which lies near Varanasi, India He studied violin under the great violinist R.P. Shastri. Vijayji received a doctorate from Banaras Hindu University. Vijayji's playing is very passionate and joyous and he sings with a nice folky voice. The Tabla player on the CD is the outstanding Ragunath Mishra from Mirzapur.
