Album Notes

Vittorio Tolomeo comes from Messina, Italy. He settled in Milano a few years ago and started out his solo career.
During the years he played in some bands. The most important has been Noema, in which he had been playing for more than ten years.
The band released two records and played a lot of gigs far and wide in Italy all through the years.
After writing some songs in English, he decided to keep on in this way, going back in time to the first years of his songwriting.
He has always considered English as a natural consequence of his background and musical roots.
He has been trying to follow the stream of the words and sounds without interferences or barriers due to the language or whatever else. Rock'n'roll should be a kind of spiritual rising, and at the same time something that would make you rise to your feet. Something in which the words are sounds and merge into the sounds. It's a universal language where the personal expression of ideas, or just telling stories, grows intertwined with sounds, rhythm, harmonies, noises.
The new record, Prize Day, comes into being from these emotions.
It' s a crossroad where the romantic obsession of the new wave meets funk and soul.
Rhythm, energy, electric, acoustic. The songs share a musical world.
Besides they share a thin line in the lyrics. The thin line is the human relations in this age. Especially in a big city.
It's a long walk through the streets of this big city. It starts in the afternoon until late at night. He faces the urban rhythms while a lot of questions and reflections cross his mind. They are about relations between lovers, friends, parents and sons. There are sudden changes of moods in this connection.
It's friendship and love sometimes taking off, sometimes failing, in large lighted streets and straight after in dark alleys.
And through it all, time prevails over the flowing of life. Dreams and ambitions collide with the reality of the man's growth.
Drums and bass guitar lead guitars and some strings to a singer wandering thru all these different moods.
Vittorio recorded the album with some friends, great musicians of the Italian indie scene, looking for good vibes more than musical side, trying to form a band in the studio that will perform live.
