She is, behind that hill

Is she?

Is she in his mind, is she behind his mind?



Is she a train ride?

The ride there or the ride home

It’s so rare to be both



If she is there-and-back

He must ride



Behind the hill, back to here

And back to the best of his mind



She is, behind that hill

Asleep

Asleep in his plan, is she asleep?



Is he better?

When he wakes and finds her asleep

In the deep of mind



If she is, he must stare

Walk and wake up there



If when he does

He finds all that he loves is there with him



If he knows that this side

Behind his hill



Grows his plans well

If he can tend this garden



The earth is black and fresh
