Peaks and valleys, oceans and deserts, elation and frustration... it's all part of sharing your life with someone who matters. Try as we might to keep an even keel, inevitably, the boat's going to get rocked.
Building on the success of his first CD (released under the alias "Tin Man Alley"), Robert Wait uses his new CD as an exploration vehicle, traveling from one emotional landscape to the next, sometimes in a Humvee, other times in an Ultralight.
Loud, quiet, and in between, the songs make great listening either one at a time, or as an entire album. It's a fantastic collection of moods and sonic textures set in motion against the backdrop of personal relationships.
Robert Wait writes, plays, and sings nearly everything on this CD, conjuring several different personalities in the process: this is definitely a "band" playing, not a solo artist strumming a guitar for twelve songs. His alternate career writing music for Film and Television has apparently trained him well for making convincing band recordings on his own. Life has apparently given him the experience to write great songs for this "band" to play.
Whoever your "significant others" may be, you're bound to see your own relationships reflected many times throughout this excellent CD. It constantly reminds us that sharing the road with someone else is risky, but well worth it. Just remember to keep moving -- and have great music blasting on the box...

"When the rain comes down do you feel it's meant for you? When the pain goes 'round, don't you know I feel it too?" Beautifully dreary, poignantly tinged with remorse and melancholy, these moody, upbeat and downbeat songs of life's most exquisitely piercing moments will enchant hearts partial to emo, downtrodden Brit pop and soft male heart cries that linger in the darkened rooms of flickering hope. While simultaneously sparse but weighty, naked but substantial, Wait's songs touch the edges of quiet contemplation and ring with perfect turbulence.

A truly inspired songwriter . Great songs from start to finish.

This CD is truly amazing. Song after song bear witness to the existence of a remarkably gifted songsmith who had already proved his worth with his band, TIN MAN ALLEY.
However much I like Matthew Sweet's 'Living Things' CD, I must admit that the songs on 'Dear Significant Other' have superseded it in my Cd player.
