Album Notes

Formed in the mountains of Southern California, evolving from weekly Celtic jam sessions, “Wake the Bard” has become a force. Slowly but surely, a core group of talented musicians came together to perform at pubs, parties, special events, and sessions all around the region.

The group plays a variety of unique instruments, which include a harmonium, hammered dulcimer, tri-cone resonator guitar, mandolin, fiddle, acoustic guitars, harmonica, and bodhran.

From the fast harmonium fingering on Galway Hornpipe, fancy hammered dulcimer playing on Kid on the Mountain, to the mandolin and vocals on Walk in the Irish Rain, this CD is joy to play.

Do people like Wake the Bard? You decide....

"The band was great. Sensed the crowd…Was able to accompany Celtic dancers. Everything asked of them they did. Their music made our event fantastic. Would highly recommend to anyone."

Great new CD from Wake the Bard
author: Lee Powell
Wake the Bard's new CD is a crisp, well mixed album. The vocals are great. I especially liked the mandolin on Walk in the Irish Rain and Shove that Pigs foot. The Hammered dulcimer, harmonium, and fiddle sound great on Rosy Finn/Over the Water. There is also great guitar/dobro throughout the album too. So if you Like Irish/Celtic music you won't be disappointed with this CD!!

I have traveled throughout Ireland, have heard many bands. Wake the Bard is as good as any of them and better than most! Excellent "presence" in the recording. I loved the Walking in the Irish Rain selection and my personal favorite has to be Finnigan's Wake. An excellent collection of songs, played superbly on authentic Irish instruments. You won't be disappointed!

I have traveled all over Ireland and have heard many Irish/Celtic bands. Wake the Bard is as good as any of the bands in Ireland, and better than most. The recording quality of this CD is excellent, with lots of "presence". I loved Walk in the Irish Rain, and my favorite has to be Finnigan's Wake. Authentic Irish instruments are used and you feel as if you have been transported to a pub in Killarney or Galway! This is a "must have" CD! You will not be disappointed....
