Album Notes

BAND BIO

In Australian aboriginal cultures, a "walkabout" is a ritual in which a young man goes on a journey through the wilderness, as an interruption of regular work, in an attempt to learn more about his own character and strength. This band was formed with that same philosophy, to escape the daily grind and find and develop our creative side. The sound is reminiscent of the Goo Goo Dolls, but without the pouty lips and pretty hair.

BAND MEMBERS

George: singer/songwriter/guitar
Originally from Florida, George moved to the Houston area 15 years ago. He started playing guitar at age 16, perfecting his chops by jamming out to Iron Maiden. He began writing songs several years ago and has developed his unique vocal style over the last few years. He was a music major in college studying Trumpet performance, playing in the symphony and jazz bands, and regularly attending Opera, just like most rock stars! Musical interests include Blue October, Frank Sinatra, Gustav Mahler, Clifford Brown and the man Nat 'King' Cole.

Kimo: bass
"Kimo", nick-named for his love of the Hawaiian Islands, actually grew-up in the Houston area. He has been involved in music most of his life since learning to play the piano at age 5. Unable to commit to one instrument, he switched to trumpet in grade school and later to guitar in college. When he and George met, they quickly became friends and enjoyed jamming together. Since George had the better guitar chops, Kimo picked up the bass and started writing bass lines to George's music. Musical interests include any sappy-chick singer (Natalie Merchant, Alanis Morissette, Indigo Girls,..etc.), Incubus, Bare Naked Ladies, and Dashboard Confessionals.

Chris: drums
Chris is the latest and hopefully final addition to the band. In a series of unfortunate circumstances reminiscent of the movie "Spinal Tap", Chris is the third drummer to roll for WALKABOUT. Chris began playing drums at the young age of 13. His musical influences are many and varied. They include but are not limited to Jeff Porcaro, John Bonham, Jose Pasillas and all the great soul and funk drummers of the sixties and seventies. He is a quiet soul with the gift to beat the hell out of the drums; enough said!
