The Walkie-Talkies are a Chicago-based duo. Both are vocalists, lyricists, multi-instrumentalists, and digital music programmers. The band was conceived as a sci-fi take on Vaudeville, using traditional instruments along with electronic music. Both members contribute winding narrative and harrowing tales atop stomping beats.

This cd, their debut, plays like a carriage ride through our whirling and often contradictory modern world. Tartaros, "The overtly portrayed human injustices in the world can sometimes become too much to deal with. But I must accept the world I live in rather than create a fantasy-life. My approach to it is at times to become a 'berserker', singing lyrics that describe hateful and malicious acts, it's like gallows humor, if I can't laugh at it on some level, it will scare the shit out of me and cause me to give up on ambitions and the general goodness that I ultimately believe all people possess." To this end The Walkie-Talkies believe that music has the power to shape minds and conjure spirits.

Many say the 8 songs, lasting over 52 minutes, pass quickly. It's party music for ghostly allies empowering all to stay bold in the face of joe-blow corporate republic (you didn't really believe them when they told you this was a democracy, did you?). If you're looking to hide out in a typical rock song about a car or a sappy ballad about undying love, don't even click the play button you will be disappointed. If on the other hand you are tired of hearing yourself say, "There is no new music out there", then give it a try.

These songs come from a love of hip hop, cabaret, delta blues, garage-rock, chamber music, medicine shows, minstrels, electronic dance and experimental, gypsy and hobo music.

Tartaros Ham-Radio Dacamara: Vocals, drums, trigger pad, guitar, bass, beat programming, samples, loops, banjo, turntables, vibes, engineering, recording and mixing.
