Album Notes

The Wallace Family is a musical family from the Fort Worth, Texas area. Their shows reflect their unique blend of Texas style old time fiddling, western swing, cowboy, gospel, and bluegrass music. The Wallace's are a very close family, and playing music is something that they truly enjoy doing.

Brook is a 15-year-old fiddler, vocalist and guitarist who has won many titles and awards with her amazing fiddling including the Jr. World Championship (Crockett, Texas), the Texas State Jr. Championship (Halletsville, Texas), and the National Jr. Jr. Championship (Weiser, Idaho). Not only does she play with her family, but Brook also appears with other country, western, and swing acts when the need for a fiddler arises. Despite her young age, her "on the fly" improvisations and creativity have allowed her to log numerous hours in recording studios as a session musician.

Sally Ann is a 13-year-old vocalist and multi-instrumentalist that has a natural ability to play most any stringed instrument that she picks up. So far, the list includes fiddle, mandolin, guitar, tenor guitar, 5-string banjo, tenor banjo, bass, and non-pedal steel guitar.
Bethany is 11 years old, sings, is a great yodeler, and plays the tenor guitar and fiddle. She likes to sing cowboy yodeling songs.

Caleb is 11 years old and plays both fiddle and bass and loves to sing Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, or Bob Wills music.

Madalyn (Maddie Belle) is 8 years old and cute as can be in her Dale Evans outfits. She is a great singer, yodeler, and fiddler as well.

Paul (Dad) is the anchor of the group with his rhythm guitar. Christy (Mom) sings with the group sometimes, but is primarily occupied with two baby boys, Joshua (born 11/01) and Seth (Born 8/03).

1. Texas Serenade - Brook is cooking on this traditional fiddle tune.
(Public Domain)

2. Roly Poly - From Brook's triple mandolin intro to the big band ending (with SallyAnn playing the trombone parts on steel), this is pure western swing.
(Fred Rose)

3. Steel Guitar Rag - SallyAnn gets to show off her 1950-something Fender non-pedal steel guitar with a little help from Brook on fiddle - and encouragement from Caleb.
(Leon McAuliffe)

4. You Are My Sunshine - Madalyn sings this old favorite - harmony vocals by SallyAnn.

(Diane Johnston, Tommy Camfield)

13. Wayfaring Stranger - Instrumental version of an old traditional song.

It was hard for me to pick out a favorite tune because they are all good
I listened to your CD and think ya’ll did a fine job of it and indeed I thank you for the CD!! You really have a big band sound that is clear and clean. There are many CD’s out there that I have listen to that “hide” the voice tracks and over do the instruments but ya’ll sound like your “Serenading” just right! I closed my eyes and the songs sounded like I was standing there with you as ya’ll performed them. It was hard for me to pick out a favorite tune because they are all good. I still remember the first time I heard “The Wallace’s” perform and I thought how good you were then but this album shows how REALLY GOOD you are! This is a CD project that everyone of you should be very proud of ! It is an honor for me to know and performed with your family at the different doin’s we’ve all been involved with.

Extremely unique Texan music that makes you smile!!
This is a great CD that shows the versatility and rich flavor of Texas music. All the tracks are exceptional, but my favorite is the Star Spangled Banner. I'm not a native Texan, but this one brings tears to my eyes. All the other tracks make me smile! Great job Wallaces!!

You are all what a family band is about
The first time I heard you guys was in Dallas at the steel guitar convention when you played in a room behind my booth. You packed the room and were fantastic. You are all great performers and we all enjoyed your music. Family music is what it's all about and your CD reflects that. Thanks for coming into our heart through your music.

Texas Serenade not only gives each member of the Wallace family

Texas Serenade covers every genre of the music from the great Lone Star State.
Texas Serenade gives each talented member of the Wallace family a chance to shine, and delivers the flavor of Texas music in a dynamic package, with something for every listener to pick out as a favorite.

Truly shows talent!
This CD truly shows the talent and dedication the Wallace's have for the music. Their versatile abilities to play different instruments throughout the CD are truly an inspiration. I especially enjoyed the yodeling and the Sweet Georgia Brown arrangement. My advice for a future CD is to bring out the second violin during twin fiddling versions, it was sometimes drowned out by the melody.

Great CD
That CD is very good!!!! I love the western swing feel to it. There's not a single song on it that I don't like. Dad couldn't believe that was yall playing all those instruments so good. Mom said that the CD is GREAT. She said that it is so good that you have a family like that to play music together. She said that is something to be very proud of.
Tell Caleb that he does a great job on "Miss Molly." That's my favorite. He sounds a lot like Bob Wills.
Yall keep up the good work!

Thanks for making me smile
